Mark Hunton, inspired by his climbs in the Himalayas and trekking between Nepal and Tibet, as well as by the birth of his children, has put together a truly inspirational CD that will move you and propel you on your own inner journey.

The Himalayas penetrates the veil to another reality. Songs on this CD were inspired by my travels in the Annapurna Mountain Range, a place of mystery and solitude. Being in the presence of these giant mountains enables the traveler to have a deeper understanding of nature, and that place within ourselves that is as ancient as this land. Mountain people here lead simple lives, unencumbered by the pressures encountered by city dwellers.

Experiencing the Himalayas revitalizes one's soul and facilitates a clarity of mind. Through this music I have attempted to capture the feeling I had while traveling in this environment. In this relaxed state of being, the mind quiets, confusing thoughts dissolve and the inner being shines through, warming the heart and giving us the experience of that which never dies. When we simply open our minds, if we can just be still, than there is a possibility to recognize our beloved within.

Trekking in the Himalayas is challenging. The weather is unpredictable and the mind can get fogged, or one can become ill from the high altitude. While ascending into higher realms I have experienced amazing clarity, being present to the majesty of the mountains and the magnificence of my surroundings. The Himalayan treks are for me a metaphor for life's inner journey. We are constantly bombarded by thoughts that limit our view of reality and experience of self. Most of our thoughts are critical in nature and create storms that blur our vision. Once in a while, when these mental storms clear and our view is unobstructed, a ray of light shines through. At this moment we know there is something possible in our life, outside of the ordinary. When that clarity happens, there is an ease of being and all the day-to-day life concerns seem to dissolve and disappear. I experienced such clarity in the mountains, and the music I share on this CD was borne out of these life-changing experiences.

This music is my interpretation of the different states that I have achieved in the Himalayas, and while in the presence of spiritual masters with whom I have sat in satsung. Ultimately this music reflects the higher the states of consciousness that I have experienced within myself. I have attempted to recreate my journey with music in such a way that it can inspire others.
