VASI HUNTON: AN OLD SOUL WITH A YOUNG HEART
Vasi Hunton an 11-year old singer/songwriter
has released her first pop single and music video, “Stroll Around”. |

The first song, “Fade to Gray”, was about her grandfather who died in Russia.
As she continued to write,
her friends and family were astonished at her depth of understanding of life’s challenges. |

“Stroll Around” was a collaboration with one of Jewel’s top lyricists, Steve Poltz.
Steve met Vasi when they were performing together at a benefit party.
Impressed with her professional attitude,
Steve was still concerned about Vasi getting into the music business at such a young age.
He advised her not to let her father, a musician, pressure her into it.
Vasi responded, “He’s not pressuring me, I’m pressuring him!”
and Steve realized, “Wow, she really has the music bug.” |

During the next break, Vasi started playing a new piece on the piano
and Steve came up with a few lyrics to go with her melody.
“He’s an amazing lyricist,” says Vasi.
He picked up his guitar and it took them just an hour to finish “Stroll Around”.
Vasi and her father were so excited about the song
they enlisted an old family friend, indie filmmaker, Laurie Lamson, to make a music video.
Balboa Park in San Diego was the setting because, as Vasi put it,
“it’s a great place to stroll”. |

”Stroll Around offers a child’s perspective on an adult world.
It reminds us to stay in the moment and not take ourselves, or life, too seriously,
even during trying political and economic times.
In the video shows how beautiful and magical life really is.” |
